He loves eating buckets of steak, and when he gets shipped of to Africa, he becomes very upset with his best friend, Marty. They later meet a tribe of crazy lemurs including the lemur King Julian. But, the animals thought that they were in the San Diego Zoo. They had arrived in Madagascar, an island that is located near Africa. They were stranded in the ocean, until they finally washed up on shore. But or some reason, the crates fell off the boat, and the animals fell inside of the big, wide ocean. When they awoke, they were all inside of crates, being shipped to a wildlife preserve in Africa. The animals where shot with tranquilizers, and the people decided to send them to the wild. The presence of zoo animals set of the police and animal control. When they find Marty at the train station, the people go wild. When Alex, Gloria and Melvin find out that Marty made a break for it, they set of to find him. That night, Marty escaped the zoo planning to get on the train and head to Connecticut. Then Gloria, Alex and Melvin look at Marty like he has a screw loose, and tell him to wish for something else. Marty didn't think about it too much, he wanted to be run freely in the wild. When Marty blows out his ten birthday candles, Alex, Gloria and Melvin tell him to make a wish. The story starts off as the animals begin to celebrate Marty’s tenth birthday.
